Pet Stairs - When to Buy Them

Pet stairs may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you begin thinking about getting that adorable puppy. Bringing a puppy into your home is quite a step.   Looking after children is a big undertaking and very time consuming and a puppy can be very much the same.   The environment for the puppy should be a good one, and his food of course should be nutritious and healthy.   A puppy though can bring so much joy and happiness into the home that you will want to provide playthings for him and everything that can help to make sure that he develops into a fit and healthy dog.


This is the time whe you should consider pet stairs for your home.   When a puppy is tiny he can be easily carried but even then it is not always convenient or even possible to carry him when moving from one part of the house to another.   If you wish you can position pet stairs to make it possible for your pet to reach your lap when you are sitting in a chair.   However, more importantly you can position them in places where you want to encourage him to go of his own accord.   He will soon learn how to use them and will happily do so.

Pet stairs come in many sizes and designs and can be chosen to suit your furnishings.   Some are carpeted and some very sensibly have washable fleece covers.   Pet stairs are, of course, generally very light in weight so that they are easily portable.   The can be transferred to wherever they are needed with no trouble.   A great advantage of having these steps is that it makes it so much easier to have pets walk up into cars or other vehicles.   This is a boon when the puppy has grown into a much bigger dog and could be very heavy to lift and manage into a vehicle.   This is where you also get the benefit of stairs as it is so much easier on your back, relieving you of the strain of lifting and bending.

Of course the obvious benefit for your dog is that they are not having to jump down from heights, risking bone injuries and problems with hips and possibly arthritis.   This is important for puppies and for older or perhaps somewhat overweight dogs.

Ensure that when you choose pet stairs for your dog that you choose stairs that are strong and well-made but also light and portable.   The surface should be one that provides enough grip so that the dog has safe footing.   If all these points are properly covered you can then also look for pet stairs that look good as well as doing the job for which they are intended.
